Three-car Collision Involves Three Fatalities


In Henry County, three people are reported killed after a three-car collision that occurred as a result of a head-on collision.

On March 1, 2014 at approximately 2:10 p.m., Jennifer Reeder, age 19 of Springfield, Missouri was operating a 2007 Mazda M3S along with passenger Erin Hook, age 20 of St. Joseph, Missouri. Eugene Hagameier, age 65 of Nixa, Missouri was operating a 2003 Toyota Solara. Paul Stankus, age 49 of Clinton, Missouri was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Impala.

At that said date and time, Eugene Hagameier and Paul Stankus were traveling in the southbound direction while Jennifer Reeder was traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri Highway 13 and just north of Clinton City Limits. The crash occurred as Jennifer’s vehicle crossed the center line, side sweeping Eugene and then colliding head-on with Paul’s vehicle. After the impact with Paul’s vehicle, Jennifer traveled off the left side of the highway and rolled down an embankment, coming to a final rest on the driver’s side facing north.

Erin Hook, the passenger inside Jennifer’s vehicle, and Jennifer Reeder were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and then transported to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri. Paul Stankus was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and then transported to Vansant-Mills Funeral. All three were declared fatal by Henry County coroner, Dain Sisk.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Paul Stankus was the only participant involved in this crash to be found not wearing a seat belt at the time of his death. Eugene Hagameier did not report any injuries at the crash nor seek medical assistance.

Jennifer’s 2007 Mazda M3S and Paul’s 2003 Chevrolet Impala both received total damages and were towed by Golden Valley Wrecker. Eugene’s 2003 Toyota Solara received minor damages and was driven from the scene.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A, MCIU Team 1, Henry County Sheriff’s Department, and the Clinton County Police Department. This is Troop A’s 9th fatality crash and 9th, 10th, and 11th fatalities for the year of 2014.
