Three Injured In Careless Driving Collision

Jackson County – A high speed collision leaves three people injured Saturday night when the driver lost control on an off ramp.

On Saturday, May 25, 2013, Michael V. Mejia, age 50 of Kansas City, Kansas, was operating a 1992 Ford northbound on I-435. Tiffany T. Everidge, age 36 of Kansas City, Missouri, was operating a 2003 Ford westbound on 63rd Street. Riana S. Everidge, age 16 of Kansas City, Missouri, was the only passenger in Tiffany’s car.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8:47 p.m. when Mejia exited I-435 at a high rate of speed. Mejia then lost control of his vehicle and traveled over a concrete island, entering 63rd Street. The 1992 Ford then crossed into the westbound lanes of 63rd Street where it struck Tiffany T. Everidge’s vehicle.

Michael V. Mejia was taken to Research Hospital by EMS with serious injuries. Mejia was not wearing a seat belt. Tiffany T. Everidge was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital in Kansas City by EMS with moderate injuries. Riana S. Everidge received minor injuries, however she refused medical help.

Tiffany T. Everidge’s 2003 Ford and Michael V. Mejia’s 1992 Ford both received total damages and were towed by Lazer Tow from Grandview.

This accident was investigated by T.G. Sims of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A and was assisted by Sergeant A.J. Bell, Sergeant D.L. Schwalm, Sergeant G.Q. Billings, Kansas City Police, and Cass County Deputies.
