Three Injured in Tree Collision


In Crawford County, two people are seriously injured and one is moderately injured after a collision with a tree.

On May 26, 2013 at approximately 6:50 p.m., Konner Cherry, age 16 from Bourbon, Missouri was operating a 1999 Mazda Protege. Konner had two other passengers inside her vehicle at the time of the crash, Alfonso Fajardo, age 16, and Leandra West, age 17. All participants involved in this crash are residents of Bourbon, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Konner Cherry was traveling eastbound on Rock Road and approximately three miles east of Bourbon. The collision occurred when Konner lost control of her vehicle, over corrected, skidded off of the left side of the roadway, and collided with a tree.

Konner Cherry and Alfonso Fajardo were seriously injured in the collision and were flown to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis by Arch helicopter. Leandra West was moderately injured in the crash and was transported by Crawford County ambulance to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Leandra West was the only participant involved to be wearing a seat belt.

Konner Cherry’s 1999 Mazda Protege received total damages and was towed by Brad’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop I.
