Three Seriously Injured in Head-on Collision


In Texas County, three men are seriously injured after a head-on collision on Missouri Highway 17.

On November 25, 2013 at approximately 6:58 a.m., Matthew Sowell, age 26 of Satsuma, Alabama was operating a 1999 GMC 1500 PU along with Joe Jarvis, age 35 of Lucedale, Mississippi. Adam Vasseur, age 42 of Bucyrus, Missouri was operating a 2007 Dodge Caliber.

At that said date and time, Matthew Sowell was traveling southbound as Adam Vasseur was traveling northbound on Missouri Highway 17 and 1/10 of a mile north of Route AA. The crash occurred as Matthew’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Adam’s vehicle head-on.

Joe Jarvis and Matthew Sowell were both seriously injured and transported by Texas County ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital. Adam Vasseur received serious injuries and was transported via Texas County ambulance to the Texas County Memorial Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Joe Jarvis, Matthew Sowell, nor Adam Vasseur was wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Matthew’s 1999 GMC 1500 PU and Adam’s 2007 Dodge Caliber received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by Jay’s Automotive.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop G.
