Three-vehicle Collision on I-70


In Boone County, three vehicles are involved in a collision on I-70 that seriously injured a female teenager from Boonville, Missouri.

On June 28, 2013 at approximately 11:35 a.m., Lawrence Kovac, age 56 of Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2000 Ford F150. The second vehicle, a 2000 Mercury Mystique, was driven by Destiny Hill, age 19 of Boonville, Missouri. The third vehicle was a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Carl Turner, age 51 of Columbia, Missouri.

At that said time and place, all vehicles were traveling in the eastbound direction on I-70 at the 119 mile marker. The collision occurred as traffic slowed for a previous accident and Lawrence Kovac collided into the rear of Destiny’s vehicle, continued eastbound on I-70 and then collided into the rear of Carl’s vehicle.

Destiny Hill received serious injuries from the collision and was life-flighted to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Lawrence Kovac and Carl Turner were uninjured and did not seek any medical attention.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, everyone involved in this crash was wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Destiny Hill’s 2000 Mercury Mystique received total damages and Lawrence Kovac’s 2009 Ford F150 received extensive damages. Both vehicles were towed by Slate Towing of Columbia, Missouri. Carl Turner’s 2003 Chevrolet Silverado received moderate damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop F.
