Tree Collision Injures Four Teens

In Scott County, four Benton teenagers are injured after the vehicle went off the roadway and collided with a tree.

On December 22, 2012 at approximately 11:10 a.m., Cody Cochran, age 18 from Benton, Missouri was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker. Cody’s passengers were Niculi Phelps (17), Thomas Ratledge (18), and Travis Sehlinger (17).

At that said time, Cody Cochran was traveling in the northbound direction on Scott County Road 405. The crash occurred as Cody’s vehicle crossed the center of the road and then collided with a tree.

Niculi Phelps was seriously injured from the collision. Cody Cochran and Thomas Ratledge received moderate injuries. Travis Sehlinger received minor injuries from the crash. All passengers were transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Cody Cochran’s 2001 Chevrolet Tracker received total damages and was towed by Local Transfer to Sikeston.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop E.
