Trike Detachment Seriously Injures Rider

Nodaway County – A motorcycle wreck leaves rider seriously injured when the trike kit detaches from the rear axle.

On Monday, April 29, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Donald R. Wymore, 60, of Hopkins, was riding his 1986 Suzuki motorcycle with a trike kit westbound on Route JJ.

At that said date and time, the accident occurred about one miles west of Hopkins, when the trike kit became detached from the rear axle causing Wymore to fail to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle crossed over the center line, ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned onto its right side. Wymore was ejected from the trike.

Wymore was transported to St. Francis Hospital by Nodaway County Ambulance and then air lifted to Heartland Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Wymore was wearing a DOT approved helmet.

This accident was investigated by Trooper R. P. Dudeck of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H and was assisted by Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department and Nodaway County Ambulance.
