Truck-Train Collision Injures Eolia Resident

In Pike County, an Eolia man’s vehicle is struck by a Burlington Northern freight train and suffers moderate injuries.

On June 17, 2012 at approximately 1:15 a.m., Devlon Walker, age 40 and of Eolia, Missouri was operating a 2003 Ford F250 and traveling in the westbound direction on highway 79 at Pike County Road 209. Ty Glover, age 29 and of Shelbyville, Missouri was operating a 1995 General Electric ES44AC Train engine and traveling in the southbound direction.

At that said time and place, Devlon was traveling northbound on a gravel path parallel to the train tracks. Devlon attempted to cross the tracks at an area not designated for crossing when his vehicle became stuck in the gravel on the tracks as the 1995 Electric Train approached. The front of the train struck the passenger side of Devlon’s vehicle.

Devlon Walker suffered moderate injuries from the crash and was taken by Pike County ambulance to Pike County Memorial Hospital due to his injuries. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ty Glover was uninjured and did not seek medical treatment.

The 1995 Electric Train received minor damages from the collision and was driven from the scene of the crash. Devlon’s 2003 Ford F250 received total damages and was towed by Rob’s Auto Service.

The train is Burlington Northern and according to the crash report, no signal device was used due to the area.

This truck-train collision was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop C.
