Two Columbia Residents Seriously Injured

In Miller County, two Columbia, Missouri residents were seriously injured on Friday when their vehicle hit a tree along US highway 54.

On August 31, 2012 at approximately 10:10 a.m., Randi Meriage, age 28 and from Columbia, Missouri was operating a 2005 Pontiac Vibe and traveling in the westbound direction on US highway 54. Nicholas Meriage, age 29 and from Columbia, Missouri was the only passenger in the vehicle during the crash.

At that said time and place, Randi was traveling westbound on US highway 54, .7 miles west of Missouri highway 87, in the Eldon area when the crash collision occurred. Randi was traveling too fast for road conditions as she lost control of her vehicle and traveled off the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree.

Randi and Nicholas Meriage both received serious injuries from the collision and were transported to Lake Regional Hospital by Miller County ambulance.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both Randi and Nicholas were wearing their seat belts during the time of the collision.

Randi’s 2005 Pontiac Vibe received total damages and was towed by Prater’s Towing.

This crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop F.
