Two Injured After Vehicle Overturns on I-435

In Platte County, two people are seriously injured after a vehicle collides into theirs and causes them to overturn several times.

On November 24, 2012 at approximately 1:34 p.m., Shawn John, age 33 from Thorton, Colorado was operating a 2006 Hyundai. Tiffany Graves, age 25 from Awasso, Oklahoma was operating a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Chad Graves, age 25, was the passenger in Tiffany’s vehicle when the crash occurred.

At that said time and place, Shawn John and Tiffany Graves were traveling in the southbound direction on I-435. The crash occurred as Shawn merged from M-152 directly into the left lane of traffic and collided with the right rear of Tiffany Graves’ vehicle. Tiffany’s vehicle traveled off the roadway, struck a bridge support, and overturned several times before coming to a rest on its wheels.

Tiffany Graves received serious injuries from the crash and was transported to North Kansas City Hospital for medical treatment. Chad Graves received moderate injuries and was also transported to the North Kansas City Hospital. Shawn John was uninjured and did not seek medical attention. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all passengers were wearing their seat belts during the crash.

Tiffany Graves’ 2009 Toyota Corolla received total damages and was towed by All Star Tow. Shawn John’s 2006 Hyundai received minor damages and was released to the driver at the scene of the crash.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop A, Platte County Sheriff Deputies, and the Parkville Police Department.
