Two Injured In Collison That Caused One Vehicle To Overturn

Platte County – A two car collision causes one vehicle to overturn and seriously injure the driver after being struck from the rear.

On Friday, April 12, 2013 Joshua D. Simon, age 28, from Ozawkie, Kansas was driving a 2012 Ford on I-29. Vincent A. Vangundy, age 60, from Liberty, Missouri was driving a 2002 Ford Windstar.

Sometime in the early afternoon hours, at that said date, Joshua Simon was traveling in the southbound direction on I-29 behind Vincent Vangundy. The crash occurred as Simon struck Vangundy from the rear causing Vangundy to lose control of the vehicle.
The vehicle slid down an embankment on the right side of the road and overturned once before coming to a rest on its side.

Joshua D. Simon was taken to North Kansas City Hospital by NRAD ambulance with moderate injuries. Vincent A. Vangundy was transported to Liberty Hospital by NRAD ambulance with serious injuries.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both drivers were wearing their seat belt at the time of the collision.

Simon’s vehicle was towed by All Star and Recovery with extensive damage. Vangundy’s vehicle was towed by Express Tow and Recovery with total damage.

This auto crash was investigated by Sgt. D.J. Hedrick of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
