Two Killed in Head-on Collision

In Saline County, a head-on collision kills both drivers.

On December 3, 2012 at approximately 7:54 a.m., Sherry Hess, age 60 from Slater, Missouri was operating a 2004 Jeep. Jeremy Rader, age 20 from Gilliam, Missouri was operating a 1993 Jeep.

At that said time and place, Sherry Hess was traveling in the westbound direction on Missouri Highway 40, 1.3 miles south of Route P, as Jeremy Rader was traveling in the eastbound direction. The collision occurred as Sherry crossed the center line and crashed into Jeremy’s vehicle head-on.

Sherry Hess was pronounced dead at the scene by Saline County corner, W.W. Harlow, and was transported to Weiker Funeral Home in Slater, Missouri. Jeremy Rader was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital and pronounced dead an hour later by W.W. Harlow. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both Sherry Hess and Jeremy Rader were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Sherry Hess’ 2004 Jeep and Jeremy Rader’s 1993 Jeep both received total damages and were towed by Mullin’s Wrecker.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop A and Saline County deputies. This is troop A’s 59th fatality crash and 64th fatality for the year of 2012.
