Two Missourians Seriously Injured in Grundy County ATV Crash

Spickard, Missouri residents are seriously injured after their ATV flipped over while attempting to climb a steep hill.

On August 11, 2012 at approximately 8:00pm, 47 year old Robert Blozvich, Jr. of Spickard, Missouri was operating a 1986 Honda TRX250 ATV on private property one mile northwest of Spickard. Blozvich had one passenger, Sue Thrasher also of Spickard, Missouri.

The crash occurred as Blozvich attempted to climb a steep hill and his ATV flipped over. Both Blozvich and Thrasher were ejected. The vehicle came to rest on top of Thrasher. The driver, Blozvich, was thrown approximately 10 feet from the vehicle.

Passenger Sue Thrasher sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported by Lifeflight Eagle to St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza. The at fault driver, Robert Blozvich, was also transported by Lifeflight Eagle to St. Luke’s for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the crash. Neither individuals involved were wearing any sort of safety restraint due to the nature of the vehicle.

Blozvich’s ATV sustained only minor damage in the crash and was driven from the scene. Blozvich did not possess insurance for his vehicle at the time of the crash; insurance is not required for the type of vehicle involved.

This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol CPL J.A. Pithan of Troop H. Pithan was assisted by Trooper J.W. George, Grundy County Sherriff, Grundy County EMS and Spickard First Responders.
