Two Teenagers Seriously Injured

In Randolph County, two teenagers receive serious injuries as a result of another vehicle attempting to cross US 63 and entering their lane of traffic.

On April 27, 2014 at approximately 6:25 p.m., Brandon Thomas, age 17 of Excello, Missouri was operating a 1992 Jeep Cherokee along with passenger Michael Garner, age 18 of Jacksonville, Missouri. Betty Taylor-Yount, age 55 of Cairo, Missouri was operating a 2007 Ford Explorer.

At that said date and time, Brandon Thomas was traveling in the southbound direction while Betty Taylor-Yount was traveling in the eastbound direction on US 63 and Missouri Route Z. The crash occurred as Betty attempted to cross US-63 and traveled into the path of Brandon’s vehicle and then colliding with his vehicle.

Brandon Thomas and Michael Garner both received serious injuries from the collision and were transported by Randolph County ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Betty Taylor-Yount received serious injuries and was transported by Adair County ambulance to the University Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Brandon nor Michael was wearing a seat belt during the time of the collision.

Betty Taylor-Yount’s 2007 Ford Explorer and Brandon Thomas’ 1992 Jeep Cherokee received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by Prather’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop B.
