Vehicle Swerves to Avoid Collision with Deer and Overturns

In Audrain County, two Mexico, Missouri residents are injured after the driver swerves off the road to avoid collision with a deer.

On December 3, 2012 at approximately 10:48 p.m., Garey Reeves, age 27 from Mexico, Missouri was operating a 1993 Ford Explorer. Tara Hilgar, age 26 from Mexico, Missouri was Garey’s passenger.

At that said time, Garey was traveling in the eastbound direction on Route FF and .5 miles west of County Road 935. The crash occurred as Garey swerved to miss a deer and traveled off the left side of the road, hit a culvert, and overturned.

Garey Reeves received minor injuries and refused medical treatment. Tara Hilgar received serious injuries from the crash and was transported to the Audrain County Medical Center. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Tara Hilgar was wearing a seat belt during the crash and Garey was not.

Garey’s 1993 Ford Explorer received extensive damages and was towed by Ron’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop F.
