Wrong Way Collision Causes Serious Injuries for Both Drivers


In Maries County, the drivers of both vehicles collide and are seriously injured from the crash.

On March 6, 2013 at approximately 5:55 p.m., Abbigail McMeekan, age 27 from Brinktown , Missouri was operating a 2008 Ford Focus. Marlene Blackburn, age 51 from Dixon, Missouri was operating a 2006 Hyundai Elantra.

At that said date and time, Abbigail McMeekan was traveling in the northbound direction as Marlene Blackburn was traveling in the eastbound direction on Highway 133 and two miles south of Meta. The crash occurred as Abbigail was in the opposite lane of traffic making a left turn onto Highway 52. Marlene was aware of Abbigail in her lane and attempted to avoid collision but unfortunately could not.

Marlene Blackburn and Abbigail McMeekan were seriously injured in the collision. Both were transported by Maries-Osage ambulance to Capital Region Medical Center. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Marlene nor Abbigail were wearing their seat belts during the time of the collision.

Abbigail’s 2008 Ford Focus and Marlene’s 2006 Hyundai Elantra both received total damages and was towed by Plaza Towing of Vienna.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop I.
