Wrongful Death in Head-on Collision

In Franklin County, a woman of Villa Ridge is wrongfully killed after a head-on collision.

On December 29, 2012 at approximately 11:55 p.m., Vivian Freer, age 50 from Leslie, Missouri was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Jo Gray, age 56 from Villa Ridge, Missouri was operating a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer. James Gray, age 56 and the husband of Jo, was the only passenger inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.

At that said date and time, Jo Gray was traveling in the eastbound direction as Vivian Freer was in the westbound direction on Route M. The collision occurred as Vivian’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Jo Gray’s vehicle head-on.

Jo Gray was in critical condition due to the crash, she was transported by air evacuation to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Later, Dr. Aaron Norris pronounced Jo Gray dead. James Gray received serious injuries and was taken by Meramec EMS to Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur. Vivian Freer was seriously injured and taken by Union ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jo and James Gray were wearing their seat belts and Vivian Freer was not.

Vivian Freer’s 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer and Jo Gray’s 2002 Chevrolet Blazer received total damages from the head-on collision. Both vehicles were towed by Sturm’s Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
